East Sacramento, CA Community

Looking for something fun to do without driving far from East Sacramento? The Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink at Ali Youssefi Square is just minutes away and brings outdoor ice skating right to the heart of the city. This local favorite has been creating memories for families since 1991, making it one of Sacramento’s most beloved traditions. Whether you’re planning a date night, family outing, or just want to try something different, this outdoor rink delivers an experience that keeps people coming back year after year.

A Sacramento Tradition for Over 30 Years

The Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink isn’t just another seasonal attraction. It’s a community gathering place that welcomes more than 40,000 skaters every season. Located at 7th and K Streets, the rink sits right outside Golden 1 Center and the Downtown Commons, making it easy to combine your skating session with dinner, shopping, or catching a game.

The Downtown Sacramento Partnership has kept this tradition alive for over three decades, partnering with local organizations to create themed events, craft days, silent disco nights, and donation drives throughout the season.

What Makes This Ice Rink Special

This isn’t your typical ice skating experience. The rink is open from November through mid-January, giving you plenty of chances to lace up your skates. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 2PM to 9PM and Friday through Sunday from 10AM to 10PM. The best part? Admission is only $15 for adults and $8 for children 6 and under, and that includes your skate rental. Skate sizes go down to youth 8, so even the littlest ones can join in.

The rink also offers special discounts, making it even more affordable. Bring your same-day SacRT pass and get $2 off admission, or if you have your own skates, you’ll save $2 as well. Active military members and veterans skate for free with a valid military IDWestern Health Advantage and Dignity Health cardholders can save $5 off admission.

Fun Events and Activities Throughout the Season

What sets this rink apart are the special events that happen all season long. The rink hosts craft workshops where families can make jewelry and other creations, themed skate nights with music and lights, and community donation drives. These events create opportunities to do more than just skate; you can connect with your community while supporting local causes.

Getting to the rink couldn’t be easier for East Sacramento residents. The location is conveniently close to the St. Rose of Lima Park light rail station at Ninth and K Streets, and the DOCO East Garage is nearby. After skating, you’re just steps away from some of Sacramento’s best restaurants and a short walk to Old Sacramento Waterfront and the State Capitol.
