East Sacramento Connect

East Sacramento, CA Community

Hey there, East Sacramento! Grab your shamrocks and dust off your green attire because St. Patrick’s Day 2025 is just around the corner. On March 17th, our lovely slice of California will transform into a mini Emerald Isle, complete with parades, pints, and plenty of craic (that’s Irish for fun, in case you were wondering).

Parade-ise Found: Old Sacramento’s 27th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The 27th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Old Sacramento Waterfront is kicking off the festivities on Saturday, March 15th. This isn’t just any parade – it’s a full-blown Irish invasion that’ll have you jigging down the cobblestone streets. With over 10,000 people expected to attend, it’s like the entire population of a small Irish town decided to vacation in Sacramento.

Be a Parade VIP (Very Irish Person)

Want to be part of the action? The parade organizers are looking for 15-20 volunteers to help out from 10 AM to 2 PM. You’ll be stationed along the route, picking up trash (because even leprechauns need to keep things tidy) and assisting event coordinators. It’s a great way to get an insider’s view of the parade and maybe snag a few extra gold coins for your trouble.

Fairytale Town Goes Green

For the wee ones (and the young at heart), Fairytale Town in Land Park is hosting a special St. Patrick’s Day celebration on March 17th. From 10 AM to 3 PM, your little leprechauns can enjoy hands-on activities, crafts, and a scavenger hunt that might lead to a gold pot. Or, more likely, a pot of chocolate coins. But hey, who’s complaining?

Pub Crawl Your Way to Irish Glory

What’s St. Patrick’s Day without a good old-fashioned pub crawl? East Sacramento and downtown are joining forces to bring you not one, but multiple pub crawls throughout the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. From March 14th to 17th, you can bar-hop your way through the city’s best watering holes, each one greener and merrier than the last.

Chromeo and Amtrac: Bringing the Beats to St. Paddy’s

Those who like their Irish jigs with a side of electronic beats should head over to Ali Youssefi Square on March 15th. Chromeo and Amtrac will spin tracks at the St. Patrick’s Day Block Party from 3 PM to 11 PM. It’s like a leprechaun rave, minus the tiny shoes and plus a whole lot of style.

Green Your St. Patrick’s Day

Let’s face it, sometimes St. Patrick’s Day celebrations can leave behind more than just hangovers. This year, why not try to keep things eco-friendly? Swap out plastic cups for reusable ones, opt for naturally green foods like kale and spinach (hey, they’re Irish-ish), and consider walking or using public transport to get to your celebrations. Mother Nature will thank you, and so will your liver.

Did You Know? St. Patrick’s Day Fun Facts

  • St. Patrick wasn’t actually Irish. He was born in Britain and came to Ireland as a missionary.
  • The original color associated with St. Patrick was blue, not green. Green only became popular in the 19th century.
  • More Irish people are living outside of Ireland than in it. Talk about spreading the luck!

Wrap It Up in Green

So there you have it, East Sacramento. From parades to pub crawls, from fairy tales to electronic beats, St. Patrick’s Day 2025 is shaping up to be greener, luckier, and more Irish than ever before. Whether you’re Irish, Irish-for-a-day, or just in it for the green beer, there’s something for everyone in this year’s celebrations.

Remember, St. Patrick’s Day is all about community, fun, and maybe a little mischief. So get out there, paint the town green, and may the luck of the Irish be with you. Sláinte!
