East Sacramento Connect

East Sacramento, CA Community

Get ready to raise your glasses and celebrate diversity in the world of craft beer at the Peoples Beer Fest 2024! This sudsy extravaganza will take over East Sacramento, California, from October 10 to 13, 2024, promising four days of hoppy happiness and foamy fun.

A Brew-tiful Celebration

The Peoples Beer Fest isn’t just another run-of-the-mill beer festival. Oh no, this is California’s largest Black beer festival, serving up a frothy blend of great brews, live music, and community spirit. It’s like Oktoberfest met Coachella and decided to have a beer-soaked baby in Sacramento.

What’s on Tap?

The main event starts on Saturday, October 12, from 4 PM to 9 PM at Oak Park Brewing Co. on 3514 Broadway. But don’t worry, beer lovers, the fun starts flowing days before that! Here’s a quick pour of the schedule:

  • October 10: Warm up your taste buds with Trivia and Game Night, followed by a Peoples Bottle Share. It’s like a potluck but with beer. Fancy!
  • October 11: Put on your thinking caps for Educational Workshops, then loosen them up again for Fixins & Beer
  • October 12: The main event – Peoples Beer Fest
  • October 13: Cure your hangover at the Brewers Brunch. Hair of the dog, anyone?

Hops and Harmony

This isn’t just about beer (though there’s plenty of that). The festival is turning East Sacramento into a full-on block party. Picture this: 40+ breweries, wineries, and cideries pouring their hearts out, local artists showing off their skills, and live performances that’ll have you dancing with a beer in each hand.

Oh, and did we mention Nappy Roots is headlining? That’s right; you can sip your craft beer while nodding to “Good Day.” It doesn’t get much better than that.

Family-Friendly Froth

Before you start thinking this is an adults-only affair, hold your horses (or should we say, hold your hops?). The Peoples Beer Fest is rolling out the red carpet for the whole family. A children’s playground is curated by @pastelrae and features painting, coloring, jewelry making, and games. It’s like Disneyland but with more IPAs for the grown-ups.

Brews With a Cause

Here’s where things get serious (but just for a moment, we promise). The Peoples Beer Fest isn’t just about having a good time and making a difference. The festival has joined forces with the National Black Brewers Association (NB2A) to celebrate diversity in beer and support Black brewers throughout the U.S. A portion of the proceeds will go to the newly launched NB2A. So, every sip you take is a step towards a more inclusive craft beer industry. Cheers to that!

Beyond the Beer

Sure, the beer is the star of the show, but there’s a supporting cast that deserves some love, too. The festival is bringing in food trucks (hello, Cousins Lobster Maine!), local vendors, and even offering discounts at Oak Park restaurants. It’s like a treasure hunt, but you find delicious food and more beer instead of gold.

For those who want to dive deeper into the world of craft beer, there are educational workshops covering everything from brewing techniques to marketing strategies. It’s like going back to school, but way more fun and with a much higher chance of buzzing learning.

The Cherry on Top (or the Foam on the Beer?)

If you’re feeling fancy (or just really, really thirsty), you can spring for the ALL INCLUSIVE Ticket. This golden ticket gets you into every event of the weekend, including the National Black Brewers Day Bottle Share, Trivia & Game Night, Educational Workshops, the main Beer Festival, Drink This & Vote Art Exhibit, The Afterparty, and The Brewers Brunch. It’s like an all-you-can-drink buffet but spread out over four glorious days.

So, mark your calendars, dust off your pretzel necklaces, and prepare to raise a glass (or several) at the Peoples Beer Fest 2024 in East Sacramento. It’s a celebration of diversity, community, and the unifying power of a good brew. See you there, and remember: drink responsibly, but dance irresponsibly!
